faithfulflame | Second Prayer: A Proper Greeting and Mysterious Arrivals[Video/Action]

Backdated to March 16th

[Early on the morning of her fifth day in Luceti, Rei Hino leaves the house she shares with the other Senshi to go about her business for the day when she is surprised to find two very familiar faces perched in a tree not far from the house. Excitedly, Rei calls out happily to a pair of large, black crows]

Phobos?! Deimos?! Is that you?!

[The birds CAW loudly and wing down, happily skipping around on the ground at her feet. These birds had been her friends and companions for many years, and...without them it just wouldn't be as comfortable for her in this odd land. Plans now forgotten, Rei spends the morning playing with Phobos and Deimos, walking all around the village in her Miko robe with the two birds flapping around with her. Anyone unfamiliar with Rei catching the spectacle might be incredibly taken aback by just how familiar the corvids seem with the strange girl, actually allowing her to gently touch them, quorking happily]

[Later that afternoon, a Video feed will start up over the journal system.

Rei is sitting on a bench outside, fiddling with the journal for a moment before setting it down and standing up to address the camera properly. Her speech is very formal, and unlike her last broadcast, she sounds much more calm and collected, despite the pair of crows that peer into the camera a few times during the broadcast]

Good Afternoon everyone. I would like to take a moment to properly introduce myself when I'm not screaming and worrying about everything. My name is Rei Hino, and I am from Tokyo, Japan. I would like to apologize for my outburst the other day, and especially to anyone that I may have yelled at or been rude to.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone that helped me when I arrived. I promise that I won't ever forget it. Additionally, I want to thank everyone who helped take care of my friends Mizuno Ami-san, and Tsukino Usagi-san in the time before I arrived. They are very, very dear to me and I am glad that they seem to have found the inhabitants of this village to be welcoming and kind. They have told me many good things about many of you, so I look forward to meeting you.

And...I gather from other broadcasts its customary to ask a question. So, my question is this: What are the spirits of this land like? Are they kind and helpful, or are they capricious and mean? Also, I would like to know more about the spirits of your homelands. Studying such things is one of my fondest hobbies, so I am very curious.

Second Impact? [That...sounds less than pleasant]

Whats different? I mean, how's Tokyo different?

Oh. Um... [Even if they are from different worlds, he doesn't know if it's okay to talk about what really happened. He decides to just go with what they were told in school.] They say that a meteor struck sometime before I was born, and it was pretty devastating. There was a war after that, too, so the original Tokyo was destroyed. They rebuilt it in the Nagano prefecture, but I think it's mostly for government business now.

Oh. I'm sorry to hear that, Ikari-san. [She doesn't really know what else to say. Its...something like...well...what WOULD have happened to her world if Usagi failed]

And...where do you live, back home?

It's okay. I mean, all of that stuff happened before I was born, so... it's just the way things are, I guess.

I live in Tokyo-3. It's, um... in the Kanagawa prefecture.

Kanagawa? Wow, thats pretty far from where Tokyo in my home is. I've never been, but I hear the mountains there are really beautiful.

And I'm still sorry, its never good to hear about disasters. So the meteor didn't destroy the world, and everyone rebuilt? [She silently wonders if the Dark Kingdom had anything to do with this. Could Metalia exist in realities without the Senshi?]

Oh, they are. The city is really beautiful sometimes, too.

[Whenever it isn't, you know, being smashed to pieces.]

I guess they rebuilt what they could. Old Tokyo must have been beyond repair if they built Tokyo-2 somewhere else.

Hmmm, yea. I couldn't imagine what Tokyo would be like if buildings started falling over. I mean, even without a meteor, the earthquakes and stuff that happen all the time.

So...back home, what do you do? You look like you're about the same age as some of the boys that go to school with my friends. Is that right?

It might be. I'm fourteen, so... [That was probably right. She seemed like she was older than him, so her friends must be younger.] As for what I do? Well... I'm an Eva pilot.

[He figures she might not know what that is, but he pauses there because... how does he explain it?]

So...yea, your a year younger than I am. [He seemed about right for a Jr. High student...]

An...Eva pilot? What's an Eva? Some sort of airplane?

Um, no, it's more like... [...yep, this is going to be the weirdest thing he's ever had to explain. He wonders how Misato might describe it.] It's a giant mechanized weapon. I guess it's... kind of like a robot? Like the kind you'd see in really old anime.

...

[Rei is silent for a moment]

You...pilot...giant...robots?

[She doesn't get any sense from his voice that he's lying...that doesn't make it any easier to swallow]

WHAT?!

[Her reaction is kind of surprising, if only because he isn't used to it. The kids at school had seen what he was talking about, so there was no reason to doubt him.]

I wish I could say I was making it up.

I believe you. I've met a lot of different kinds of people from weird worlds here already. But I've never heard of a giant robot pilot before.

But...shouldn't you be older? Like in the comics?

I guess not. I'm not really sure why I was picked to do it in the first place.

But what about you? What do you do back home?

Me? Well, I'm a Miko. I help my grandfather at the Hikawa shrine in Tokyo, its sort of a family tradition. And...I go to school, probably one a bit like yours, except...well...maybe? Do you have schools where you're from?

[Obviously, she's not mentioning that she's also Sailor Mars, the Senshi of Flame...who fights evil to keep the world safe...you don't need to know that Shinji. Sorry!]

[Hey, if he met a magical girl, he'd feel much less weird about what he does...!]

Oh. I guess that makes sense. [...he feels a little embarrassed now for talking about spirits so flippantly earlier. He should've known.] But yeah, we do. I can't really imagine school being different, though.

Well, thats why I wear these robes. [She swapped over to video and gestured to her robes]

Let me guess. Your school has six periods, and you learn...English, Japanese, Social Studies, Science and P.E.?

Yeah, that's right. I guess that much is still the same.

You wear them here, too?

Why not? Its comfortable, and its who I am. Not to mention, I don't really think its entirely appropriate to wear a school uniform all the time.

That's true, but... since everything's free, you could wear whatever you wanted, couldn't you?

Yes. But why change? These are comfortable.

Why do you wear what you wear, Ikari-san?

Because it's comfortable. But there's nothing special about what I wear.

[Not compared to a priestess's robes, anyway.]

Well, I don't always wear robes, though. I do have other things, I just like these clothes because it reminds me of home, and my grandpa.

Oh. [When she put it that way, he could definitely understand.] It must be nice to have something like that here.
