Third Prayer: The Future is Written in Flames [Voice/Action] Forward Dated to June 13th

Good afternoon everyone. For those of you who have not met me, my name is Rei Hino. I would like to extend my warmest greetings to all of the New Feathers. I'm sure that you will find something that you enjoy here, and that you will be able to make many friends. If you need any help, please feel free to contact me at any time.

On to other matters, though. Its taken me some time, but I have managed to prepare and purify a small area on the edge of the forest where I can perform flame readings and other types of fortune telling. I do not have much in the way of a shrine, merely a tent and a small consecrated area with which to work, so I hope that doesn't reflect poorly on the experience. In my world, I am a priestess, and I'm fortunate enough to have a gift when it comes to doing such things. If anyone is interested, I will happily use my blessings to offer a reading of your future. It would be my greatest honor to provide my services.

While I cannot guarantee perfect results thanks to our hosts weakening my powers, I feel that its not out of my reach to offer answers to simple questions that you may have about your near future. All that you need to provide is a question and a single hair for a flame reading, or just your question for other types of fortune telling. I have a set of tarot cards if anyone prefers that, but I'm more confident in my abilities at flame visions.

I hope that you find my fortune telling to be enjoyable!

[Rei can be found at the site depicted on the map for most of the day. Its simple enough, a tent that she and the other senshi had found in the item shop, erected as a sort of open air shrine with a carefully prepared brazier on the outside. Near the center is a small round table she'd hauled out of her house, and at the entrance is a bucket of purified water meant to cleanse oneself before a reading. A pair of crows, Phobos and Deimos, dart playfully around the area, hopefully adding to the impression of the site.

Rei greets anyone who comes by with a happy smile and a great deal of enjoyment. She loves using her gifts, and if it brings a measure of peace or enjoyment to someone she's more than glad]

(OOC: If you have Rei do a reading, I'll offer up a generic enough fortune, since they tend to be very vague most of the time. However, if you wish for something more specific or want to use the reading to set something up for future plans, foreshadowing, whatever, please speak with me and we can work out some details! Well, most of them, eh? [No Ace, for one.]

It does seem a bit involved. Did you do a lot of this back home too?

It's different than I remember, but I believe this should work just as well as if you were still a Charter mage.

[With an encouraged smile Sabriel gently draws her hand back, the connection lost for the time being.]

I do offer fortune telling at home, its most of what I do when I'm not in school.

As far as making shrines? No, thats not common. At all. There aren't many sacred places to build them left.

[She laughs lightly]

Life is about a lot of things, Usagi-chan. Not just having fun. You do have lots of fun, just don't overdo it, you know? Its like when you eat to much, it becomes less good, and so you eat more. If you have too much fun, it gets harder and harder to find new fun things to do.

[She's trying to convince the unconvincible.]

The very near future, Don-san. There are ways to change your fate though.

[Now her tone is quite grave]

Truly? I'm glad that I can help.

[Rei takes her hand back, folding it neatly into her other palm and quietly watching Sabriel's eyes. She's smiling, seriously glad to be able to help out in even a small way.]

Please let me know when you wish to begin the founding. I will offer everything I have to make your Charter stone work. I'm quite curious to see what your magic will be like with it around.

Hah. Experienced I see.

Your world is all explored then, I take it?

Yes, its been that way for some time now too. I gather yours is not?

Not really. One man managed to reach the end of the Grand Line and come back out alive, but he was the only one to ever do so.

It's no longer the Age of Exploration though, more like Whitebeard's Era. Or the Age of Pirates. Although both of those are pretty much finished up and changing into another era entirely.

[He bites his lip.]

Are you sure about this? What does it mean, if it isn't inevitable?

Its just highly likely.

[Without another word she stands and moves over towards a box. A moment later she finds what she's looking for and walks over to Donatello, offering him a small piece of wood with a carved symbol. A Shinto charm, a warding against a bad fate. Her voice is serious, broaching no argument or questioning. This is, to her, life or death.]

You haven't learned this kanji yet. Its "Botsu," drowning. This charm will protect you from that if you wear it. Don't lose it, Don-san.

[Rei remembers that Marco is a pirate, and that he's mentioned his adoptive father, Whitebeard before. But she wasn't ever really sure what that meant. Now may be the time to ask...

As she begins to form the question, Phobos wings into the tent and lands in front of her, a curious look on his face as he stares at Marco]

Mmm, yes. You've mentioned your father before, but...the Age of Pirates? Why does your world have such an age? Aren't pirates mostly just thieves and murderers? Back home thats what they were before they all went away.

Me too.

[Because doing everything by herself so far has been...exhausting to be perfectly honest. It wasn't just about losing blood in the making of the stone, infusing the land with her own power was a terrible drain on her spirit.]

Charter magic can be subtle or bold depending on what it is used for. Enchantments, protection, spells of convenience, those are all subtle but aggressive spells can be bold and...quite violent.

Yes, I remember.

[She smiles again, this time a bit more mysteriously. Behind her, the fire in the brazier dances a bit more quickly, a tempo all its own.]

My magic here is much more focused on divination and flames.

[Don studies the charm, then stows it carefully in his belt.]

[It doesn't seem likely that he would die by drowning, but questioning Rei's vision would be disrespectful, so he says nothing.]

You should tell your brother, Don-san.

[She's still speaking matter of factly, like a teacher]

This is important.

... I will.

[Eventually. Maybe.]

[The brief flare of the fire catches Sabriel's attention, leaving her thoughtful for a moment as she weighs Rei's words. Luke...or rather, Ms. Sunrider had showed her a vision of her future in her home world but she was curious as to what Rei might see. Hopefully it would be something mild, the poor woman had had enough negative readings for one day it seemed.]

If I may ask, how does it work?

Its not dissimilar to Clayr visions, just the origins. I perform a ritual and ask the spirits of the fire to tell me more, and make a small offering, like a single hair. Then I receive a vision.

[She quirks her head to one side]

Would you like to have a reading?

[Castiel scowls. That's not helpful at all.]

Can you tell me anything concerning the whereabouts of God?

So long as you don't mind doing one for me, yes please.

I...um...

[She's a bit taken aback by his sudden change in attitude...had she offended him?]

No. I don't think that's within my powers, especially here. I...I'm sorry?

[A wryly amused grin.]

Right, my father was the world's strongest. Just before he died, someone insisted that this era would go down in history as his.

As for pirates... Many are just that, murderers and thieves and nothing more, but not all of them are like that. After Gol D. Roger reached the end of the Grand Line, he inspired a new generation of pirates. He was called the Pirate King and at his execution someone asked where they could find his treasure so he told them to go looking for it; One Piece. The general assumption is that he left it at Raftel, at the end of the Grand Line since no one else has been there. Millions of pirates flood the Grand Line every year looking for his treasure, or just trying to get famous or do some damage along the way.

We've always had a lot of pirates in my world since it's nearly all ocean, but it got a lot more drastic after Roger.

Although most pirates are scum, not all of them are. Some are just dreamers who hate the idea of abiding by the world government's laws. Most of them are just looking for some way to get rich quickly however, so the slave trade became a huge problem again. My Pops wanted to put a stop to that so he took Fishman Island and several others under his protection. That way anyone who wanted to pick a fight had to go through him, through us, my family, to do it. That's why I always really loved and admired him, eh? He was the strongest man in the world, the only one to hold his own against Gol D. Roger, but all he ever wanted was a family and to protect people he loved. That's why I hope this Era does get named after him.

[Well, that and for Ace's sake.]
