[She doesn't answer more than that, she just skips backwards a step and fires a quick shot over his shoulder. The arrow takes the leader, pinning him to the ground and disintegrating him.]
[This was his chance to look cool, kunai at the ready since that shot Rei took seemed to upset them. It's also time for semi-serious mode.]
Hey. Let's let them come to us. You mow 'em down, I'll take care of whatever gets through.
[And he readies himself and tries to look all awesome while he does it. And as if on cue, they charge the duo, their swords raised and little midget cries sound.]
[Rei nods, drawing back the bow with a creak. Firing off arrow after arrow, she does her best to keep him covered, but backing up periodically to be sure she isn't pinned down.]
Noooooo problem! [Brandishing his kunai, he takes on the little fur covered midget thing and somehow, successfully blocks a swing from his opponent. Not without realizing that despite all the fighting they'd done in the TV world, he still had a ways to go in the strength department.
Heaving the sword out of the way, he goes in quickly for a kill with a quick swipe of his kunai, making it explode into pixels.]
See what I mean? [He didn't look all that cool while he did it though.]
[The little cheeky midgets taunt Yosuke as they brush past him on their way to try to get at the archer that was reducing their numbers from what they'd consider too safe of a distance. It clicks in his head what's happening, and breaks out into a run to try to nab the one on the right. Thankfully he is quick on his feet, and his first thought once he catches it is to tackle the creature before it can get to Rei.
Both go down in a heap, and weapons skid across the floor from both of them, leaving creature and teenager unarmed. Yosuke takes a punch to the face and is knocked back, landing hard on his back. But strangely enough, he doesn't feel the pain of the blow, which baffles him and lets him at least scramble to his feet, looking around frantically for his kunai. He spots one, and runs to pick it up. These antics have bought enough time so that both shouldn't be able to jump Rei at the same time, but Yosuke is determined to take the thing out that sucker punched him like that.]
[Well, the other one? Rei simply just stabs with an arrow. It's a little stupid, but it does have a sharp point and it gets the job done so she can go back to covering for Yosuke as he rolls around on the ground.]
Good job. Thanks.
[Man her concentration is just intense, though, but they're beginning to thin things out...]
Hell yeah! [He waves to her looking proud, but that little distraction leads to his opponent picking up its sword and charging at Yosuke for knocking him flat. That scrabble continues on, the sword flashing to try to cut the teenager in half. After quite a bit of difficulty on Yosuke's part to defend himself, he finally snags an opening to charge in and slashes in just the right spot to take out the little guy.]
[He turns, seeing that there's only a few more left because arrows are hax.]
[So he charges on with its back turned to him, taking it out quickly to only leave two to deal with.]
[Rei draws back her final arrow and looks at Yosuke. Obviously she can only take out one till she can recover a few arrows from the pixelated dead cave-gremlins, so he'll have to deal with one.]
[He looks rather confident now that the numbers are down, taking the right as instructed and flipping a kunai backwards in his hand to take a slash at the creature like they do in the movies. Now that their group has dwindled, they exhibit the same behavior as the other two had- cowardly, making it easier for him to take out his opponent. He'll turn and grin like an idiot after he's made sure that Rei's taken out her own target.]
[By the time he's turning to face her, she's lowering her bow and smiling vaguely, starting to saunter towards the fallen collection of arrows amid the pile of pixels.]
Very good, Yosuke-kun. You're a lot better with that than I'd have thought.
I kinda had to figure out how to defend myself and others back home. It might be easier to show you than to explain it. [He starts to head down the hallway, leading to some stairs that would lead them downward into the castle.]
[Rei trots off down the hallway after him, happy to cover his behind. Whatever it is she's going to be shown, well...she's sure it can't be as weird as her secret.]
[The stairway is lit by what seems to be "natural" sunlight through windows that are only well constructed open holes in the walls. However, looking outside only seems to show off a digitally unfinished world, pixelated in most parts, showing that they were not meant to leave the castle. He makes his way down carefully, trying to listen and speaking when he feels that the coast is clear.]
You know how like, some people around here have freaky powers and stuff? It was weird, but I met a whole bunch of them when we were at that amusement park. I even met a girl who can summon this creepy dog from the void or something. [This story has a purpose, he swears.]
And you know how all of us were attacked in some way while we were there.
[Rei's steps slow a bit, but she nods, even if he can't see it. Her focus is more all around them than on him, and she keeps her voice low, not wanting to attract unwanted attention. The world around them was strange, that cartoonlike quality not lost on her, but it's a feigned interest, as her thoughts are more on him.]
Yes. As you may recall, I have some powers of my own. [A beat, and she starts to focus more intently on him, her spiritual senses zoning on him.]
I remember. [He remembers that creepy ride that he never, ever wants to go on ever again.]
And well, what I have is part of what's hard to explain. We sorta had to keep it a secret from everyone.
[He trots farther down, and it seems to end at another pair of large wooden doors.]
Why I brought it up is because this is supposed to be a video game, right? I didn't want to freak you out too much just in case I have to do something drastic in here. You know how those end bosses are, right? [He winks at her, like he knows that she understands exactly what he's talking about.]
But I guess if you have powers too, then it wasn't really necessary for me to bring it up, huh.
[Rei's smile sharpens, now curious. She steps closer and looks around them, at the walls and the possible ambush points. No sense in being caught out, but she thinks she heard something.]
Well, I have a general idea. What sort of power do you have? I'm curious, truly. And it could be useful, if we plan out our strategy together.
[Because while she doesn't play video games aside from Sailor V, she understands the idea, and has watched her friends play more than a few. Granted they are a little dated...]
I promise, I won't freak out or think you're strange. How could I? I have supernatural talents of my own.
Well, I've got a Persona. That's what we call them, from where I'm from. It's... [He thinks for a second.]
It's this thing inside me. I mean, it's me, but it's not. This is totally weird to explain... [He rubs the back of his head.] But anyway, I can do a bunch of wind spells, I guess. Sorry, I've never had to really explain it to someone else before.
Then...[She says grimly, looking over her shoulder. There's something around the corner, chittering and laughing. All of this isn't so odd, and wind she can work with. Makoto and Haruka both used wind.] Show me. I feel enemies coming. Believe me when I say I don't doubt you, but I think this is going to be beyond you and I as normal people.
[His attention seems to pick up to the laughing around the corner, still a ways off, but she was right. He didn't know what was coming and it would be better to be prepared.]
Alright- [He says as his kunai is flipped in his hand, now resting with the blade facing backwards-] here goes nothing.
[The familiar tarot card of The Magician floats down, materializing out of no where in the air above Yosuke's head as blue light seeps up from the ground from a sigil that appears underneath his feet. He smiles as he takes aim at the card spinning as it comes closer to him, and he jumps and yells-]
Persona!
[-and miraculously manages to do a flip in midair to break the card, landing without biffing it as the shattering of the card reveals a monster of sorts behind him, hair wild with sunglasses and a blue jumpsuit.]
[Rei takes that in, and her supernatural senses scream when she sees the tarot card appear. There's something weird, oddly magical about it, and that's just...huh.

He sees the room has a dozen of the devil munchkins in it.]
Uhhh...Rei?
[The one he'd been chasing turns around, and sticks its tongue out at him, raising its sword and pointing it at Yosuke.]

[And as she says this two more break around him and go for her. She'll probably get one without help, but two? That's pushing it. She isn't Legolas.]

[He says as he picks up a few arrows too for her, presenting them.]

I wouldn't know by looking at you. Consider me surprised.
[Which begs the question...]
But why?
