Second Prayer: A Proper Greeting and Mysterious Arrivals[Video/Action]

Backdated to March 16th

[Early on the morning of her fifth day in Luceti, Rei Hino leaves the house she shares with the other Senshi to go about her business for the day when she is surprised to find two very familiar faces perched in a tree not far from the house. Excitedly, Rei calls out happily to a pair of large, black crows]

Phobos?! Deimos?! Is that you?!

[The birds CAW loudly and wing down, happily skipping around on the ground at her feet. These birds had been her friends and companions for many years, and...without them it just wouldn't be as comfortable for her in this odd land. Plans now forgotten, Rei spends the morning playing with Phobos and Deimos, walking all around the village in her Miko robe with the two birds flapping around with her. Anyone unfamiliar with Rei catching the spectacle might be incredibly taken aback by just how familiar the corvids seem with the strange girl, actually allowing her to gently touch them, quorking happily]

[Later that afternoon, a Video feed will start up over the journal system.

Rei is sitting on a bench outside, fiddling with the journal for a moment before setting it down and standing up to address the camera properly. Her speech is very formal, and unlike her last broadcast, she sounds much more calm and collected, despite the pair of crows that peer into the camera a few times during the broadcast]

Good Afternoon everyone. I would like to take a moment to properly introduce myself when I'm not screaming and worrying about everything. My name is Rei Hino, and I am from Tokyo, Japan. I would like to apologize for my outburst the other day, and especially to anyone that I may have yelled at or been rude to.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone that helped me when I arrived. I promise that I won't ever forget it. Additionally, I want to thank everyone who helped take care of my friends Mizuno Ami-san, and Tsukino Usagi-san in the time before I arrived. They are very, very dear to me and I am glad that they seem to have found the inhabitants of this village to be welcoming and kind. They have told me many good things about many of you, so I look forward to meeting you.

And...I gather from other broadcasts its customary to ask a question. So, my question is this: What are the spirits of this land like? Are they kind and helpful, or are they capricious and mean? Also, I would like to know more about the spirits of your homelands. Studying such things is one of my fondest hobbies, so I am very curious.

Then maybe...it'd be best to tell her a bit more while Mamoru-san isn't around to trigger her feelings?

Maybe. And the truth is, I don't like hiding things from Usagi-chan. Not at all.

[And surely telling her would be different from the shock of it happening, or seeing it?]

But I know even when Zoisite targeted the 'princess', Usagi-chan wasn't affected, because she didn't have any idea that was her. Once she does... she might be more vulnerable, to things like that and to the princess.

Right, I really don't like hiding things from Usagi-chan either. She may be a little goofy, but she really is a lot more perceptive than we know.

[Not to mention...theres a chance she can control it if she's aware]

I'm not sure about that though, Zoisite isn't here. And if he were to appear, we could deal with him BEFORE he became aware of it. I don't know if anyone else would really...target her like that.

It's not like that now. Zoisite and the others, they fought alongside us to prevent the Dark Kingdom from being revived again.

[She isn't sure why she even said that. Why defend them? Maybe it's fairness, or maybe a twinge of still understanding what they went through back then. Either way, she knows the other side of it, too:]

But if they came here, it could be from any time, or even a different world again.

Of course, you told me before, and I trust you. But, forgive me if I sound jaded, the possibility of one of the Shittenou appearing from your world, and at the proper time, seems less likely than one appearing from mine, or from a dark period in yours.

My point, Ami-chan, is that we couldn't count on them. And shouldn't, since they aren't here.

I don't like the idea of hiding this from Usagi-chan. Its a hard decision to make though. So many risks.

[Technically, the greater probability was of a shitennou from the past life or already healed, as it encompassed a greater span of time.

But she wasn't going to gamble Usagi's safety on it.]

I don't count on anyone when it comes to this.

[They're words the Ami that Rei knows, so full of faith and hope, would never speak.]

[That...that doesn't at all sound like Ami-chan. Has something MORE happened to this Ami that Rei doesn't know about?]

Ami-chan. Don't SAY that. We have to count on each other. Otherwise, we'll never be able to...

[She trails off, clearly rattled]

We'll never be able to do our duty...

[Rei, she never had that absolute faith in the group. And even here, though she loves Usagi and is so happy Rei is here, she's been abandoned even by the girls before these two came.

And until just recently, it was only her here to protect Usagi.]

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you.

No. Its alright. I should be more understanding. You'd said before that Usagi only came recently, but you've been here longer. I know you've been alone for a long time. and...I know what being alone is like.

[She shivers a bit, remembering the time when she had no friends save for Phobos and Deimos, and Grandpa. And she's not sure she could ever go back to that]

[And Ami, in turn, can admit the changed situation.]

I'm not alone now. I have Usagi-chan, and you, and the friends I've made here.

Then you know you can count on us, right? I'll stand with you and Usagi-chan no matter what.

[She's not joking, either. Less than a week ago she was prepared to die for the others, and nothing's changed now]

So you still don't know what to do about this do you?

I don't. [She admits it with a rueful smile. Rei probably knows her well enough to guess at the way it's taken over her mind, driven her to distraction.]

Either choice makes me afraid.

And thats the right thing to be. When dealing with something like this.

[She does know, even if its a different Ami]

I think maybe we should wait. Keep it from her for now, and see how things go in the near future. I know it'd be overwhelming for her.

Right. [She grips onto it like hope.] We should wait, just awhile at least.

Yes. I think even another world Usagi-chan...shouldn't be bothered with all the details at once. She's liable to just start crying.

I'm sure she'd do her best to understand.

I know. But...overwhelming her? Its happened before, she just shuts down sometimes.

Maybe you can answer this. How has she taken the experiments? I've been curious since I heard about them.

She hasn't encountered any harmful ones. The patch will hopefully keep it that way.

Patch?

Yes. It's designed to make sure the droids can't detect her.

I don't want Usagi-chan in the Malnosso's hands.

The Malnosso gave that to Usagi-chan?

[But she nods, agreeing. She definitely doesn't want those creeps touching her!]

So she'll be safe for a while then? Thats great.

[More precisely, Ami had taken several missions to earn it for Usagi; but she'll go with that explanation. It's less likely to worry Rei. She makes a vague sound she lets Rei take for agreement.]

It's one less worry.

[And then she thinks...]
Say, have you ever been taken by them? Could we maybe get patches for you?

That matters less than keeping Usagi-chan safe.

[Twice.]

Well, Usagi's safe. You should be too. [Matter of factly stated. She's not going to argue with Ami on this one. All her friends should be safe]
