Third Prayer: The Future is Written in Flames [Voice/Action] Forward Dated to June 13th

Good afternoon everyone. For those of you who have not met me, my name is Rei Hino. I would like to extend my warmest greetings to all of the New Feathers. I'm sure that you will find something that you enjoy here, and that you will be able to make many friends. If you need any help, please feel free to contact me at any time.

On to other matters, though. Its taken me some time, but I have managed to prepare and purify a small area on the edge of the forest where I can perform flame readings and other types of fortune telling. I do not have much in the way of a shrine, merely a tent and a small consecrated area with which to work, so I hope that doesn't reflect poorly on the experience. In my world, I am a priestess, and I'm fortunate enough to have a gift when it comes to doing such things. If anyone is interested, I will happily use my blessings to offer a reading of your future. It would be my greatest honor to provide my services.

While I cannot guarantee perfect results thanks to our hosts weakening my powers, I feel that its not out of my reach to offer answers to simple questions that you may have about your near future. All that you need to provide is a question and a single hair for a flame reading, or just your question for other types of fortune telling. I have a set of tarot cards if anyone prefers that, but I'm more confident in my abilities at flame visions.

[Rei can be found at the site depicted on the map for most of the day. Its simple enough, a tent that she and the other senshi had found in the item shop, erected as a sort of open air shrine with a carefully prepared brazier on the outside. Near the center is a small round table she'd hauled out of her house, and at the entrance is a bucket of purified water meant to cleanse oneself before a reading. A pair of crows, Phobos and Deimos, dart playfully around the area, hopefully adding to the impression of the site.

Rei greets anyone who comes by with a happy smile and a great deal of enjoyment. She loves using her gifts, and if it brings a measure of peace or enjoyment to someone she's more than glad]

(OOC: If you have Rei do a reading, I'll offer up a generic enough fortune, since they tend to be very vague most of the time. However, if you wish for something more specific or want to use the reading to set something up for future plans, foreshadowing, whatever, please speak with me and we can work out some details! Hit me up in a PM and we can work from there.)

It's good to see you too! It's...be a while, hasn't it?

[Sabriel had meant to find the Clayr again but like Rei, there had been distractions and complications since their first meeting. None the less, Sabriel is happy to see her and a touch relieved that she doesn't seem as timid as before when Rei first found out who exactly she was.

Stepping up to the tent she pauses on the outskirts of it, looking around at the set up curiously. She got the distinct feeling it wasn't exactly the sort of place you'd just stomp into.]

If I may ask, what is the tent for?

It has! A few weeks at least.

[Rei walks down the hill and bows politely, noting the respectful pause and appreciating it. Manners were always nice. She remembered that was the way of the Old Kingdom though. The memories were fading like a dream, but some things remained]

Its a shrine, sort of. I don't have much to work with here. Its funny, the Malnosso shifted me into a Clayr, and in my homeworld, I'm a miko. A...kind of priest. I have visions, much like I did when I was in yours.

Oh... [Blinking in surprise Sabriel dips in a little bow in return, the gesture a little foreign but it felt like the polite thing to do. She did not expect that...honestly she thought if anything the Shift might have aged the young woman up a couple of years, not shifted her home world anchor. So, Rei underwent the same thing she did then. She can't help but feel a little sad, that much more alone in Luceti but she had at least made a new friend.]

It seems that even though we are temporarily from different worlds, our other selves are still...true to who we are.

Yes, its true. I am sorry, but I'm not actually a Clayr.

[She can't forget the words they had shared before though, and the moments where Sabriel had felt...not so alone had also been nice. It was like finding yourself confronted with a sad girl who you used to know but had lost contact with. A feeling Rei knew all too well]

Why don't you come and sit. We should talk, Sabriel.

That would be lovely Rei, thank you.

[Still paused by the outskirts of the tent Sabriel considers just how to go about going in to sit before taking the simple route of just asking. With a small smile she looks up at the other girl. She wasn't familiar with the rules of a 'shrine', there weren't any in Ancelstierre and the only one she can think of in the Old Kingdom is in the basement of Abhorsen's House.]

Do I need to do anything before I come in?

Unless you are some sort of ghost? No. Though, its considered polite to purify oneself with water.

[She points to the small wooden bucket off to one side]

Wash your hands, left then right, then take a sip, and wash your drinking hand. Thats all.

Ah, alright.

[Sabriel nods, following Rei's instructions with the water before stepping inside the tent.]

Are there many shrines like this in your world?

Yes, there are quite a lot in my home country. Most towns have at least two, though large cities sometimes have hundreds. They are built to honor the spirits of the world, the kami. The...oh...how to word it? [hmmm]

Kami are...like little gods. They live in everything.

Oh, so...they are like the Great Charters in the Old Kingdom then?

[Sabriel can't help but have a lot of questions now that she knows Rei is from a different world. It was always so interesting finding out about all the worlds out there and since Rei had been Shifted to believe she and Sabriel shared the same home it...well, it made the exchange of questions a little one sided.]

Are you a mage in your own world as well?

Something like that, though they are a bit more religious. Everyone visits them, and spirituality is less magic and more belief and faith. The Kami are something unknowable though, they're otherworldly beings.

[Rei quietly nods at Sabriel's second question. She can't talk about Mars, but she does have her own breed of magic.]

Something like that. Not in a sense like you, though. I'm a priest, and I've got some odd gifts from the Kami. I can see the future written in flames, and I can control them as well.

More like in Ancelstierre then... [How interesting, so these Kami are all over the world then? It must be nice, having no borders like the Old Kingdom...so long as there weren't any Dead.]

So you are naturally like the Clayr from home! That's a wonderful gift you have.

It...can be. It can also be difficult. People in my world don't usually have such gifts. You can imagine how that goes. And my visions are rarely pleasant, today most of all...

[She catches herself rambling to nobody in particular]

But that's neither here nor there. How are your plans for making a Charter Stone going?

Oh...that's a good point, I didn't think of that. I can understand how it might be difficult...people are rarely happy to see the Abhorsen in the Old Kingdom, or along the Perimeter.

[Because Abhorsen only appears where the Dead have preyed on the living. They might be able to fix the problem but Death and fear surrounds them. Eyes growing dark for a moment she blinks at Rei's question, glad for the distraction.]

Ah, well, I haven't had much time to work on it recently to be honest. The next step is also...put on hold at the moment.

Of course, I remember that detail. I'm sorry that things in your world are so...grim. But everything there will be alright. Having met you, I know that you'll have the will to overcome the Dead.

[She means it too. Rei's faith isn't given lightly either]

Oh? Why so? Is there anything I can do to help?

Thank you Rei. [Between Rei's faith and Luke's vision Sabriel is...somewhat optimistic about her chances when she returns home. There will be a price to pay for her success but she would be able to do it.]

Well...as I mentioned before I need blood from the Great Charter families to make the stone and recently I ah...lost a fair amount so to work on it any more in my current state wouldn't be wise.

[Still, it would be nice to get some help. It's been difficult oh her own...]

Ahh, were you wounded on the recent mission?

And is there anything I can do to help? Would...my blood be of any use? I've got powers, and while maho isn't well liked in my world, if its for a good cause I could offer.

Not from the mission but it's already pretty much healed.

[Please don't mind if Sabriel's leaves that really vague, she can't really explain the complexities between her duel with Viral at the end of the Shift, nor why she's...not really too bothered by the fact that she came out of it with just the cut. ~~It could have been a lot worse.~~]

I'm...not too sure. I don't know what foreign blood might do to the stone so I'd rather not, but maybe...would you say your magic is more spirit based?

I would say so, yes. My...lineage...has a long history of being connected to fire and spirits.

[She smiles softly, more to herself than to Sabriel.]

In that case maybe you can help. Do you remember how the Clayr would pool their power together to See full visions? That sort of gathering of power can be done with Charter magic too to cast large or complicated spells.

Since my body is weak I might need a bit of a hand with the magical side...perhaps we could try an experiment?

I do remember, yes. Not well, but its familiar. I'd be happy to try an experiment though. What would you like to do?

It's a simple test to see if your magic and mine is compatible.

[With a smile Sabriel holds out her hand.]

Take my hand and try to will your power into the link. So long as we stay connected then the power between us should double.

[Rei takes her hand and does just that, concentrating and willing her powers just as instructed]

[For a moment there is nothing in the connection save for the warmth of Rei's hand in hers. Then comes a faint pulse, a push...and then the familiar sensation of power being added to her own, like a river of strength flowing down Rei's arm and into hers.]

It works!

O..OH!

[Rei can feel it too, surprise forming across her normally quiet, reserved face. She's never felt anything quite like this...in this form. Its a warm feeling, a conjoining of her spiritual power and Sabriel's own magic.]

W...wow...

It's different than I remember, but I believe this should work just as well as if you were still a Charter mage.

[With an encouraged smile Sabriel gently draws her hand back, the connection lost for the time being.]
