Good afternoon everyone. For those of you who have not met me, my name is Rei Hino. I would like to extend my warmest greetings to all of the New Feathers. I'm sure that you will find something that you enjoy here, and that you will be able to make many friends. If you need any help, please feel free to contact me at any time.

On to other matters, though. Its taken me some time, but I have managed to prepare and purify a small area on the edge of the forest where I can perform flame readings and other types of fortune telling. I do not have much in the way of a shrine, merely a tent and a small consecrated area with which to work, so I hope that doesn't reflect poorly on the experience. In my world, I am a priestess, and I'm fortunate enough to have a gift when it comes to doing such things. If anyone is interested, I will happily use my blessings to offer a reading of your future. It would be my greatest honor to provide my services.

While I cannot guarantee perfect results thanks to our hosts weakening my powers, I feel that its not out of my reach to offer answers to simple questions that you may have about your near future. All that you need to provide is a question and a single hair for a flame reading, or just your question for other types of fortune telling. I have a set of tarot cards if anyone prefers that, but I'm more confident in my abilities at flame visions.

I hope that you find my fortune telling to be enjoyable!

[Rei can be found at the site depicted on the map for most of the day. Its simple enough, a tent that she and the other senshi had found in the item shop, erected as a sort of open air shrine with a carefully prepared brazier on the outside. Near the center is a small round table she'd hauled out of her house, and at the entrance is a bucket of purified water meant to cleanse oneself before a reading. A pair of crows, Phobos and Deimos, dart playfully around the area, hopefully adding to the impression of the site.

Rei greets anyone who comes by with a happy smile and a great deal of enjoyment. She loves using her gifts, and if it brings a measure of peace or enjoyment to someone she's more than glad]

(OOC: If you have Rei do a reading, I'll offer up a generic enough fortune, since they tend to be very vague most of the time. However, if you wish for something more specific or want to use the reading to set something up for future plans, foreshadowing, whatever, please speak with me and we can work out some details! Hit me up in a PM and we can work from there.)

[Don studies the map. He knows where that is.]

On my way. Do you have paper, or should I bring some?

I have some. Its no trouble.

[And she closes her journal to wait]

[Don arrives shortly. As he enters the tent, he wipes his feet, bows, and kneels.]

Konnichiwa, Rei-sensei.

[Rei bows and nods]

Come in, Donatello-san. Before we begin, can I ask you to purify yourself? Use the bucket over there, and wash your hands, left then right. Then take a sip of water, and wash your drinking hand.

[These instructions are simple enough, until -] Drinking hand?

Oh...right...I'm sorry Don-san. You can just wash both your hands. That's fine. Then come sign your name.

[Don is mystified, but he'll do his best. He washes both hands, takes a drink, then kneels again at the table, picking up paper and pen. He writes his name in English, then in kanji for good measure.]

[Rei inspects his handwriting and nods, taking the paper]

Very good. Now, have a seat, Don-san. Seiza style is best, its more formal.

[Without another word, she walks over to the flames and tosses the paper in. As it burns, she claps twice and bows, kneeling before the brazier]

[Don settles back into proper seiza, and watches Rei curiously.]

[Rei opens her mind to the flames, taking them in and watching another vision unfold. As she watches, Don may see her visibly flinch at least twice, and after a long moment she pulls back, shaking.]

N...no...

[Don is alarmed by this. Presumably if Rei's flame-reading was usually unpleasant for her, she wouldn't have offered to do it for anyone who was interested.]

Rei-sensei...?

Don-san. I don't think you want me to share what I saw. Its...not pleasant.

[Not as bad as Adele or Obi-Wan, but...she'll offer. She holds her hands up, palms facing upwards.]

If you really want to see, then touch my hands. I understand and its your future, but I don't really want to.

[Don hesitates.]

Is it that thing where I turn into a monster?

Um. No. Its worse.

[She'll wait just a few seconds more, while wondering what the hell....]

[Don puts out his hands, but doesn't yet touch Rei. He can never refuse knowledge, no matter how terrible it might be.]

Will it hurt you?

I'll see the vision again. That's all. It won't hurt, but it won't be pleasant for either of us to see.

[Don certainly can't refuse now. He takes a deep breath, and puts his hands in Rei's.]

[Donatello's mind clouds over, the light of day giving way to a sinking darkness. The void is murky, the entire scene obscured like viewing the bottom of a lake through the surface. A singularly massive weight presses down over the scene, an inescapable gravity that dominates all other feelings. Far below, under the object is an inky abyss, a well from which no light can escape.

Rei pulls back, shaking her head and waveringly taking a seat on the floor]

Don-san, do you understand what that means?

[Don jerks away with a gasp, and takes a moment to compose himself.]

It - felt like being underwater. But something was wrong.

Yes. And at the very bottom? Death.

[Rei's tone isn't sad or angry, only matter of factly. Death is the logical end to all things, and despite her own friendship with the turtle it IS inevitable. But nobody should see their own death before it happens.]

... Death?

[It's taking him a minute to get his head around this.]

Yes. I don't know what it means entirely, but that nothingness? That's the end. Death.

[Her tone remains even. After everything else today? This was nothing new.]

[He shifts uncomfortably.]

Are we talking about the distant future? The next few days?

The very near future, Don-san. There are ways to change your fate though.

[Now her tone is quite grave]
