[Abandoning the Cerevice, Leia drags herself out of bed with a yawn. She stretches, and is pretty lazy about going through her morning routine--but she's excited, she swears!
Eventually, she'll show up at Rei's door after taking a path through the skybridges. She's dressed, mostly awake, and hungry as promised.
[The smell is that of a standard Western breakfast. Bacon, sausage, eggs, and all that.
The door opens with a hiss, and Leia will find herself not looking at Rei but a pair of crows that have clearly pressed the button.]
Thank you, girls.
[The two birds squawk and flap back inside...and Rei, visible in the kitchen, tosses a bit of corn into the air. They catch it mid-fall and flap away to devour their treat.]
[She regards the crows with a faint familiarity that suggests she's met them at lease once before. She walks in and already feels right at home, especially as she watches the girls enjoy their treat.]
Hi, Rei! Hi, Phobos, Deimos.
[. . . She's careful not to disturb them otherwise.]
[Leia goes to do just that. She scoots her chair in closer, glancing at the empty spot in front of her where her plate will presumably go--and she'll turn to look up at Rei, who appears to be headed back towards the kitchen.]
Need help?
[She calls after her. It's only the two of them, and she said she was almost done, but still . . .]
[She's only just sat down, of course, but she'll jump at the opportunity to be up and about, to be helpful. She's swift about making her way to the counter, grabbing two of the dishes. Both look delicious, and her experience as a waitress definitely comes in handy here.
Sometimes she can be pretty clumsy, but not today! Gingerly she places them on the table.]
I'll get us drinks, too.
[It's more of an offer than anything else. Her eyes flicker towards her refrigerator.]
[A moment later, Leia's laid out two glasses for them both and is opening the fridge door. She can't help but give Rei a glance as she pulls out the gallon of orange juice. To make things easier, she's decided that's what she'll drink too, but she does see that Rei has a nice variety.
She shakes her head.]
No, I totally understand! It was hectic for me, too. Lots of texts and calls, plus I noticed some of my notebooks and clothes were missing for some reason. Eventually I found out who had them, so I had to go get them, and then I wound up having somebody over for a while . . .
I'm glad I finally got a chance to catch up with you.
Same. We had people coming by and calling all afternoon.
[Rei lays out the last of the food with a little flourish and slides Leia's seat out for her before taking her own. Setting down her CEREVice, she rather pointedly turns it off. No interruptions, at all.]
Phobos and Deimos' perch was missing too, but it was just an old coatrack with felt on it, so I made a new one. And there was a lot of cooking, because several people I know can't cook, and I thought it'd be best to feed them and not overburden the restaurants or Archer too much.
And of course showers. Stars above I missed those!
[Leia's is on vibrate, which is just as well. She won't notice any calls or texts anyway until later whenever she decides to check. She laughs, and tries not to stare at the food too eagerly until they're both ready to dig in.]
You can say that again. And that was really nice of you . . . I'm a little sorry I missed it, but now I get my own private breakfast feast!
[Leia's jaw hangs open for a moment in disbelief, but then she closes it again as she pulls out her CereVice.]
I can't believe I didn't think of that.
[Duh.
She scrolls through her pictures until she comes across a few selfies she took with him at the beginning of the year. They were taken in quick succession, so they're similar, but she went through the effort of making silly faces. Her hair is also down and she's in a magenta coat.]
This was right after Christmas . . . you know, after that huge blizzard. I found out he lives in the same building as me.
He's . . . [There's an awkward pause as she struggles to find a good word for him in a nutshell. He is nice, she supposes . . . in his own way, but he can also be really standoffish.] He can be difficult, but he's worth it. I think I'm pretty lucky, too.
[Once they're both satisfied, she withdraws her hand and puts the CereVice aside to continue eating. Her eyes wander to the room Rei had been glancing at.]
[Rei can't help but laugh, eyes turning back to that bedroom. Shaking her head fondly, she answers.]
No. She's here...she's just a late sleeper. I don't expect her to be up before...oh...one o'clock. Sorry about that, but I will eventually introduce you. Promise.
[Leia eyes suddenly widen, and had her hands not been full with utensils, she likely would've covered her mouth when she gasped. She doesn't want to be rude and wake her up, though she gets the distinct feeling Rei isn't so worried.]
I had no idea.
[She lowers her hands.] . . . Actually, I did meet her once, but it wasn't for very long.
[A pause, after an answer that's a bit overly enthusiastic. Calmer:]
Well, I didn't know it at the time, but yeah. I remember asking her if she'd signed up for a blind date, but she mentioned that she already had one. [dodgy words like "sort of" or "kind of" were probably used as well.]

Knock, knock.]
Phew. Whatever she's making, it smells great.

[There are platters of steaming food on the counter. And she's cooking the last of the sausage now.]

Absolutely. Whatever you want should be in the fridge. Orange juice for me, and the glasses are in the cabinet next to the fridge.
[Sizzling sausage pops and cracks and she's turning down the heat and serving it up onto plates now, grinning at Leia while she lays it all out.]
I'm glad you came. Sorry I didn't get in touch yesterday, it was pretty hectic.

[Taking a plate, she starts serving herself from the available dishes...]
And don't be. You're in much brighter spirits than everyone else, and I can use the pick me up.
[Some people had it much rougher...]
So...boyfriend?
no subject
That is, before she freezes, laughing a little. She wonders if he's even awake yet.]
It's still a little hard to believe . . .

[Rei eyes Minako's bedroom door askance...]
Anyone I know?
no subject
[Though his stage name stands out, in her opinion, so if someone by the name of IV didn't ring any bells, she doubts it.]
When you were in the volcano, did you see anyone with really weird yellow and purple hair that's kind of spiked like a lion's mane?
[For reference
because how the hell do i describe ygo hair]no subject
Um. I may have seen him? I'm not sure. A lot was happening so fast.
[She pauses.]
Show me a picture on your CEREVice?

[Leia grins in turn.]
There was this class for chocolate-making at Thistle Do Nicely, and we were both there.
