I have had to do everything alone. Before here, I did. Sometimes Lancelot was there, but then he left. Gaius... [ He just shakes his head then, looks down at the floor. ]

I'm glad you have that. I...hated being alone. There's nothing in the world quite like knowing someone is watching your back.

It's... been nice. [ He smiles a little there, expression softening. ] I know I should trust people here a lot more. The rules are different. It's just... habit, I guess.

[ He finally moves his hands to squeeze hers now. ]

I wanted to apologise for feeling as I did though. I should have known better.

[She smiles back, curling her hand up in his. Here's a boy she can respect. One of the few.]

It's alright. Don't...take it the wrong way, but you're still adjusting. It's natural, and this place causes all sorts of problems.

I won't. Not now. [ His teeth pull on the corner of his lip, and now he looks down a little awkwardly. ]

I want to do better next time, because I know there will be one here. I know it'll probably take a while to adjust too, but I think I'm doing better now. Than before.

Well, the fact that you realize it is definitely better than not. Athena was upset. She said I could punch you.

[To which Rei only laughs.]

But I don't think that would serve a purpose now. Do you?

[ He scrunches his face up at that. ]

Well she already did it, you can as well if it'd make you feel better. I'm used to it.

Just don't give me a reason, and you'll never need to thank me. Being a little stupid after a stressful situation is no cause for violence. From me, anyway. I can't speak for more high-strung people.

[Patting his hand again, she leans back and opens the cooler with a foot.]

I'll try not to. But don't worry, I'm pretty sure she's done it even at times when it wasn't stressful. [ ...What is he doing with his life-- ]

A drink sounds great though.

[She bends and roots around...]

Do you drink alcohol, actually?

Alcohol is fine. [ He looks a bit sheepish. ] Ale is the most common drink at home anyway.

[ Considering it's probably cleaner than water....... ]

Fair. I suppose I forgot about that.

[She knew that, at least somewhat. She plucks out a pair of chilled cups and a bottle of wine, passing him one and popping the cork.]

It's a weak red. I keep it around for when I've had a long day.

[ He only gives a little shrug, it isn't a big deal. He takes a cup though giving her a smile as she opens it. ]

Isn't that most of the days here?

[She tips the bottle up and pours him a cup, and then her own.]

There's a reason it's a big bottle.

...Are you trying to get drunk?

[ Well, she said it was a weak red but even so. First he rolls the wine around a little, then finally gives it a small sniff. ]

No. If I was trying to get drunk I'd have a stronger wine. This is enough for at least two weeks. I only drink a glass, maybe two a day.

[Maybe. Even that's spotty.]

I think the only time I've even been close was when Minako and I...[She trails off, shaking her head.]

Was my birthday.

[ He pauses there, somewhat getting that they almost went into a sore spot. ]

I've only done it a few times here, but most of the time I ended up a little... [ Well he and Rapunzel, he, Charlie and Fay... they all went hardcore with the drinks. Ah. ]

...Sorry though. I didn't mean to- [ He shrugs slightly, she should know what he means. ]

[Sore...yes, but more inappropriate given what had happened in the evening after her party...*sweats*]

There's nothing to apologize for. [Rei sips at her drink slowly.]

I don't really think it'd be good for me to get really inebriated here, is all.

[ Rei... he's too pure for that kind of talk. smh... ]

Of course there is, you're still going to be sad. [ He pulls his knees up a bit, takes another sip of it. ] But if that's what you wanted, I'd watch over you.

[ And hopefully... not get drunk as well. This is a lot weaker than the stuff he's drank before though so it should be okay. ]

No, it's not...that. [She blushes.] That was the night we did...things...that lovers do. It's a happy memory, not a sad one.

[She really, really doesn't want to go into more detail than that.]

But I might take you up on that. Sometime. Just not tonight. And I'd do the same for you, you know.

[ Sorry but it's too late, he's swallowing a sip when she blushes, admits that because while he might not have been thinking of it ... now he is?

He just about manages to cover his mouth at least. ]

[ God, now he's just trying to wipe his face without getting red wine on his clothes. ]

[Reaching into her bag she hands him a handkerchief.]

You really had no idea about women loving one another being possible, did you?

[ Look... he tries to not think about these things?! Now he's just going to end up thinking about Rei getting it on with another lady and feel terrible... ]

I mean... I'm glad you aren't sad but... [ SWEATS. He at least takes the handkerchief and tries to wipe off the wine and spit, but he's looking away. ] Not really, no.
