Third Prayer: The Future is Written in Flames [Voice/Action] Forward Dated to June 13th

Good afternoon everyone. For those of you who have not met me, my name is Rei Hino. I would like to extend my warmest greetings to all of the New Feathers. I'm sure that you will find something that you enjoy here, and that you will be able to make many friends. If you need any help, please feel free to contact me at any time.

On to other matters, though. Its taken me some time, but I have managed to prepare and purify a small area on the edge of the forest where I can perform flame readings and other types of fortune telling. I do not have much in the way of a shrine, merely a tent and a small consecrated area with which to work, so I hope that doesn't reflect poorly on the experience. In my world, I am a priestess, and I'm fortunate enough to have a gift when it comes to doing such things. If anyone is interested, I will happily use my blessings to offer a reading of your future. It would be my greatest honor to provide my services.

While I cannot guarantee perfect results thanks to our hosts weakening my powers, I feel that its not out of my reach to offer answers to simple questions that you may have about your near future. All that you need to provide is a question and a single hair for a flame reading, or just your question for other types of fortune telling. I have a set of tarot cards if anyone prefers that, but I'm more confident in my abilities at flame visions.

I hope that you find my fortune telling to be enjoyable!

[Rei can be found at the site depicted on the map for most of the day. Its simple enough, a tent that she and the other senshi had found in the item shop, erected as a sort of open air shrine with a carefully prepared brazier on the outside. Near the center is a small round table she'd hauled out of her house, and at the entrance is a bucket of purified water meant to cleanse oneself before a reading. A pair of crows, Phobos and Deimos, dart playfully around the area, hopefully adding to the impression of the site.

Rei greets anyone who comes by with a happy smile and a great deal of enjoyment. She loves using her gifts, and if it brings a measure of peace or enjoyment to someone she's more than glad]

(OOC: If you have Rei do a reading, I'll offer up a generic enough fortune, since they tend to be very vague most of the time. However, if you wish for something more specific or want to use the reading to set something up for future plans, foreshadowing, whatever, please speak with me and we can work out some details! Hit me up in a PM and we can work from there.)

[Ami could use some advice herself, or at least some guidance, or maybe she really just wants to know (think) it'll be alright. The recent missions (and Rei's involvement as Mars), and now the Malnosso's demands have not left her at her most relaxed.

More importantly, it's a chance to see Rei, so Ami finds herself heading to the tent. She stays outside at first, to be sure no one's already catching a private word and to avoid barging in. Her voice carries well enough, though she keeps it soft.]

Rei-chan? Are you free?

[Rei calls out softly, happy to hear her friend came to see her. The Malnosso's threat hadn't left the priestess in the best of moods, which was why she decided to make the offer. The flames always calmed her down, and helping others did wonders]

[Ami makes her way inside, where she offers Rei a smile. She takes a moment to glance around, taking in the little changes Rei's made, and the place Rei's created for herself.]

Leave it to Rei-chan to be diligent. You're always a hard worker, aren't you?

I try. This is what Grandfather would want, and its something I love.

[She smiles and offers the water to Ami so that she can purify herself]

Would you like a fortune, or to talk?

[Ami goes through the motions - admittedly, she's never been very religious, but she's respectful enough - and purifies herself before explaining her presence.]

I came to talk awhile, but... Can it be both?

Of course. What do you want to talk about, Ami-chan?

[Ami shakes her head quickly, dispelling worry.]

Nothing in particular. It's just... a lot's happened lately. I wondered we're all doing alright. [By we, she means the senshi here; though it's one of the times she can't help wishing for more of them.]

Can you see what might happen, about Catherine?

[Rei shakes her head, frowning]

I cannot. I've already tried, but the flames don't say anything about it. I can't help but wonder if his destiny is too murky for me to read.

Maybe. It could also be the Malnosso obscuring your powers. [They know the Malosso can affect them, after all; and it's easy to see how it'd be in their interests to block Rei's predictions when it comes to this.]

We'll have to keep investigating it for now, then. Even if the people want to protect him. [Frankly, the few gestures of 'Catherine' and goodwill don't make up for anything that's happened here, to Ami. She doesn't know what she thinks is best yet.]

It could be. Either way, you are right. We need more information. I'm sorry I can't really help with that.

[Rei sighs heavily. This is all coming in the wake of that dreadful mission]

Would you like to try another fortune, Ami-chan?

Let me look into it awhile. Right now, it seems there's strong feeling that we should protect Catherine. I could agree, if Catherine can find a way to help us escape the others in return.

If nothing else, I'd like to keep Catherine away from the Malnosso just to prove that we can. We can't let ourselves be bullied.

On its own, doesn't it seem to cruel to hand him over? [She's more than willing to do for a reason - for the least reason, really, which shows her feelings are starting to get the best of her - but not as a statement of strength.]

It does, but thats not important. They are both our enemy. I think the only reason to keep him away is that Catherine is a valuable asset to us. They want him, so we should want to keep him.

It sounds as though we'd have a lot of allies if we choose that. [This is worth considering, not only for the girl who always felt more comfortable with others sharing her view, but strategically.

But they won't solve it today, any more than they'd solved it when they first talked about it.]

Right now, let's try to clear our heads, so we can think about it carefully.

Yes, Ami-chan. Lets relax for today. We can think about it more when we're thinking more clearly.

[She decides to change the subject, maybe offer something nice]

Ami-chan, why don't I give you a reading? Something not so serious.

Alright. [Her mind will continue to be preoccupied, but she can still let herself get in a lighter frame of mind, for a little while.]

How about Usagi-chan's birthday coming up? Can you foretell what we should do for her to make her happy?

No no, thats not how it works, Ami-chan. Ask something about you. Something you want to know.

[Rei puts her hand on her hip and rolls her eyes a bit]

And you know what Usagi will want. Cake, and to spend time with us. And karaoke.

We'll have to be sure to sneak out to the bakery. You know she'll try to find out what we're planning.

How about this, then. Will we have a peaceful time here? [Right now? No. But she'd like some assurance for the future; and besides, Rei might see something else once she does the reading.

Like something more personal.]

[Rei nods and steps close to Ami, plucking out a single hair with a sharp tug. She needs that to get started.]

Have a seat, Ami-chan.

[Rei tosses the hair into the flame, and claps twice before kneeling before the brazier. She spends several long moments concentrating on the fire, watching them dance. Holding Ami's question in her mind, she receives her first vision.

Ami is standing next to a taller, male figure. She's smiling up at him, and him down at her. They seem to be walking together into the sky, a clouded evening landscape with clearly visible stars, almost as though he's leading her into outer space. She never gets a look at his face, but the impression is of someone like her friend: calm and quiet, with a great deal of inner strength.

Could it be Ami finding...romance? Or a dear friend? Either way, when the flames swirl and consume the vision, Rei pulls back with a bemused look on her face]

Well...that...was not what I expected at all.

[Rei's reaction isn't what Ami expected, and she blinks before peering at the flames. Of course, she knows she can't see the visions Rei conjures there, but she's become vividly curious.]

Rei-chan? What is it? Do you see something...? [Something strange? Unusual?]

[Rei turns to Ami wearing a curious smile.]

Ami-chan...look.

[She takes Ami's hand and wills the other girl to see what she had seen, her spiritual powers sharing the vision with her friend. She couldn't always do this, but with something this important it came through clearly]

Does that look familiar to you?

[Ami gives a sharp gasp; she hadn't expected to see it. It takes her a moment to calm herself, to separate the vision from the reality in front of her, to recognize both for what they are, and not lose herself. She doesn't even seem to particularly pay notice to Rei's hand in hers.

Then she's finally free to answer.]

I... [She chickens out, and lies - by evading the truth.]

It's just a vision, isn't it. I'm not sure what it means. [She knows one person who 'walks in the sky', perhaps, but... it can't be saying something about him, can it?]

Ami-chan? Do you have a special guy friend?

[Rei's voice is light and teasing. This is exactly the sort of thing she'd wanted, something to distract both of them from the grave reality of what was potentially to come. This wasn't normally a role she adopted, but...since she needed an escape, it worked quite well]

Its a vision, yes. A glimpse of whats to come. You wanted to know what would make peace, or make you feel happy? Maybe that person can do that? Do you know who it is?

[What Ami does have is a red color seeping through her neck through her entire face.]

Nothing like that! [The words come a bit too quickly, though whether it's that Rei has hit close to the mark or that Ami is simply horrible at facing anything involving real romance, remains vague.]
