Second Prayer: A Proper Greeting and Mysterious Arrivals[Video/Action]

Backdated to March 16th

[Early on the morning of her fifth day in Luceti, Rei Hino leaves the house she shares with the other Senshi to go about her business for the day when she is surprised to find two very familiar faces perched in a tree not far from the house. Excitedly, Rei calls out happily to a pair of large, black crows]

Phobos?! Deimos?! Is that you?!

[The birds CAW loudly and wing down, happily skipping around on the ground at her feet. These birds had been her friends and companions for many years, and...without them it just wouldn't be as comfortable for her in this odd land. Plans now forgotten, Rei spends the morning playing with Phobos and Deimos, walking all around the village in her Miko robe with the two birds flapping around with her. Anyone unfamiliar with Rei catching the spectacle might be incredibly taken aback by just how familiar the corvids seem with the strange girl, actually allowing her to gently touch them, quorking happily]

[Later that afternoon, a Video feed will start up over the journal system.

Rei is sitting on a bench outside, fiddling with the journal for a moment before setting it down and standing up to address the camera properly. Her speech is very formal, and unlike her last broadcast, she sounds much more calm and collected, despite the pair of crows that peer into the camera a few times during the broadcast]

Good Afternoon everyone. I would like to take a moment to properly introduce myself when I'm not screaming and worrying about everything. My name is Rei Hino, and I am from Tokyo, Japan. I would like to apologize for my outburst the other day, and especially to anyone that I may have yelled at or been rude to.

I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone that helped me when I arrived. I promise that I won't ever forget it. Additionally, I want to thank everyone who helped take care of my friends Mizuno Ami-san, and Tsukino Usagi-san in the time before I arrived. They are very, very dear to me and I am glad that they seem to have found the inhabitants of this village to be welcoming and kind. They have told me many good things about many of you, so I look forward to meeting you.

And...I gather from other broadcasts its customary to ask a question. So, my question is this: What are the spirits of this land like? Are they kind and helpful, or are they capricious and mean? Also, I would like to know more about the spirits of your homelands. Studying such things is one of my fondest hobbies, so I am very curious.

[Rei smiles happily at her friend, gently lifting one of the birds on a crooked finger to give Ami a better look]

Yes they are! Phobos, and Deimos. I'm...very very happy that they ended up here. We've been friends since I was really little. But look. Aren't they cute crows?

They're so big! They're a little intimidating. [But she's smiling as she says it, and she comes a bit closer to look them all over.] But they're very beautiful.

Intimidating? Ami-chan, are you afraid of them? They won't hurt you. They're very, very nice birds. [She happily runs a finger along one bird's head]

I'm not afraid, because Rei-chan trusts them. [She even reaches out her hand, though she doesn't come closer; she lets the birds decide whether to accept the gesture on their own.]

But they're very big, and they seem strong, too.

I do trust them. I've known them since I was really small. [The bird doesn't come any closer, but doesn't seem to move away from Ami. They ARE birds...they won't make the first move there...]

And they may be strong, for crows. But I think they are just cute.

[Being accepted that much gives Ami the courage to edge a bit closer to the birds.]

I'm sorry, Rei-chan, but which is which again? [She's evidently quite bird-racist. She can't tell them apart, quite.]

This one is Phobos, aaaand this one is Deimos. You can tell by their feet. Phobos has bigger feet than Deimos. Look, see?

[This may or may not be in Rei's head...]

[If Rei says there are bigger feet on one, there are bigger feet on one. Ami... isn't sure she sees it for herself, though.]

I'll get used to which is which with some time. Like with twins.

Yep. It took me a little time too, but after all this time? Its like telling left from right.

Have you not seen them before? Or...does your Rei not have them? [That thought...actually kind of scares her. She couldn't imagine not having them around]

[When she came out, she'd recognized them as being Rei's crows from home. But it's true, she doesn't know them as well.]

There were crows at the shrine, but I didn't realize you'd tamed them so well, and had names for them.

I...haven't tamed them, at all. And I didn't give them names, either. When I was little they just played with me, and I knew their names. I'm not sure how, I just...did.

[She doesn't stop smiling though, her hand rising quickly and the bird squawking as it took off from its perch, flitting around like wild]

[Oh, dear. There's just one more thing to worry about first: the cat Ami introduced Rei to when she came to the house.]

They won't be bothered by Maia, will they? Or the fish? Where will they live?

Of course not! There are cats all over the shrine. But...they'll probably stay outside like they always do. They're cute, but I couldn't force them to stay inside if they didn't want to. Though when it gets cold, maybe they'll want to stay in my room at night.

We should look for everything we'll need to take care of them in the shops. [Though granted, this will be far easier for the crows than it was for the cat that was used to being a pet from the start.]

Yep. What do you think we'll need? Corn and bread crumbs...and maybe...hmm...I don't want to put them in a cage if they need to come inside, that wouldn't be nice.

Do you think...Usagi will be alright with them around?

We'll help her get used to them. Since they won't stay in the house while it's warm, she can make friends with them gradually.

Thats true. Its funny, the first time she and I met...they attacked her. I've never seen Usagi-chan so confused before! Did that happen at your home as well?

I heard about it in school the next day when she told everyone: As soon as they cawed at her, she ran away! [She will not laugh, she will not laugh. Ok, just a little bit.]

[Rei can't help but laugh a bit too]

I bet she called them mean, monster birds too. They really are sweet, there was just something...wrong at the shrine, so maybe they got protective.

[Ami becomes serious at that.]

There was a youma targeting it around that time. When we returned, it crept up just behind Usagi-chan. She was lucky you were there.

Its the same in my world. Thats...when I learned who I was, at home. I think I met you the next day, actually. We have similar worlds, maybe things went on similar path? Fate...probably guided it that way.

[Granted, in Ami's world, Rei didn't accidentally target Usagi as the source. Probably for the best.]

Our fate from the past life...

Actually, I've wanted to talk to you about that. It might be different.

You have? Alright, well...what do you want to talk about, Ami-chan?

[She's pretty happy, clearly no idea whats coming]

And do you mind walking while we do it? Its a nice day, and I'm feeling like being away from the house for a bit. Is that alright?

[Ami is not so relaxed, as she uses these few moments to decide how to say everything. She nods, and makes ready to go.]

It might be better, actually. [She'd rather Usagi not hear.]

[Rei notes the seriousness in Ami's voice, and her expression darkens noticeably]

Alright. Please, lead the way.
